Introduction
Fatty acid metabolism plays a critical role in reproductive development. This study focuses on oocyte maturation in the bigfin reef squid.
2 Materials and Methods
Ovarian tissue was collected from mature females during the breeding season. Lipid composition and metabolic enzyme activity were measured using advanced analytical techniques.
3 Results
De novo fatty acid synthesis was identified as a key pathway in oocyte development, with specific enzyme activities correlating with reproductive stage.
4 Discussion
These findings provide insights into the metabolic basis of reproduction in cephalopods and may have implications for understanding oocyte development more broadly.
